Luxury Car Hire — frequently asked questions

What should a wedding car booking include?
Establish the hours covered and the overtime rate, how many journeys are included, whether the driver waits between them, and what happens if the schedule slips — which it does. Confirm the vehicle you are shown is the vehicle you get, and ask what the operator does if it breaks down on the morning.
Can the car reach the venue and the ceremony?
Two separate questions. In Florence the historic centre is a limited traffic zone with camera enforcement, so access for a wedding car has to be arranged in advance. In the countryside the issue is the drive rather than the permit: gravel, gradients and low clearance rule out some vehicles entirely. Ask the operator and the venue both.
Is the operator licensed?
Chauffeur-driven hire in Italy is licensed as noleggio con conducente under the framework law of 1992, separately from taxis. Ask to confirm the licence and the passenger insurance, especially when booking through a planner or an intermediary. It is a routine question and a legitimate operator will answer it without hesitation.
How many cars do we actually need?
Usually fewer than first assumed. The couple's own car is the one that matters; parents and attendants can often travel with the guest transport. If the ceremony and reception are in different places — common in Tuscany, where the legal ceremony is often at the town hall — plan for the car to make that journey twice.

Where these answers come from

The rules quoted above are Italian law and published municipal information, not our reading of the market. We check them on the dates shown; rules change, so confirm anything you are about to act on.

  1. Law of 15 January 1992 no. 21, framework law on non-scheduled public passenger transport · www.normattiva.it, checked 15 September 2026 Article 1(2) separates taxi services from chauffeur-driven hire (noleggio con conducente).
  2. Comune di Firenze, limited traffic zone (ZTL) · mobilita.comune.fi.it, checked 15 September 2026 Sectors A, B and O are restricted Monday to Friday 07:30–20:00 and Saturday 07:30–16:00, enforced by camera gates. A summer night-time restriction also applies on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights — check the dates for your year.
