Can we choose our own caterer?
Only if the venue allows it. Many Tuscan properties require their in-house kitchen or a short approved list, which constrains the largest single line in the budget. Establish which model applies before you fall for a venue, because it determines whether the caterers you like are even available to you.
What does wedding catering cost?
No caterer on this site publishes a price, and the figure depends on guest count, menu, service level and season. What you can do is make quotes comparable: ask whether the price includes IVA, whether service and staff are inside the per-head figure or billed separately, and exactly what is provided — tables, chairs, linen, glassware, cleaning.
Will we get a tasting?
Usually, but ask when, where and whether it costs extra. For couples planning from abroad this has to be built into a trip, which is one reason to combine a viewing visit with a tasting. Ask also whether the chef who cooks at the tasting is the one cooking on the day.
Can they handle dietary requirements?
Yes, but give real numbers early rather than late. Vegetarian, vegan, coeliac and allergy requirements affect the menu design and sometimes the kitchen, and a caterer told two weeks before will produce something less good than one told in March. Ask how allergens are handled on the night, not only on the menu.
Can we bring our own wine?
Sometimes, and there is often a corkage fee. In a region that makes the wine this is a real question with a real number attached, so ask both parts: whether it is permitted, and what it costs per bottle. Ask the venue as well as the caterer — the answer can differ.
