Why hire a mobile bar rather than use the venue's?
Because many Tuscan venues have no bar at all — they have a kitchen and a garden. A mobile bar brings the equipment, the staff and the drinks to a property that does not otherwise serve them, and it works particularly well for the aperitif, when guests are outside and some distance from the kitchen.
What should be included in the quote?
Ask what is in the per-head or flat figure: the drinks themselves, the ice, the glassware, the staff and their hours, setup and breakdown, and whether power and water are required from the venue. Ask whether the price includes IVA, and what the overtime rate is if the party runs long.
Can we supply our own drinks?
Sometimes, and it can be a genuine saving in a wine region — but ask two parties, not one. The bar operator may have a corkage arrangement, and the venue may have its own rules about what may be brought onto the property. The answers can differ, and the venue's usually wins.
Do they need anything from the venue?
Usually power, water, vehicle access to the spot where the bar will stand, and somewhere to wash and store. This is worth checking early at rural properties and in historic buildings, where a power supply in a garden is not a given. Put the bar operator and the venue in touch directly rather than relaying answers.
