Wedding Planners — frequently asked questions

Do I actually need a wedding planner in Tuscany?
Not legally — you can plan it yourself. What a planner mainly buys you is access to information that is not published. When we checked eleven of the venues listed on this site, only three gave a capacity and none gave a price. A planner knows which properties suit your guest list and how your comune works, and is physically present when something needs solving.
How far in advance should I engage one?
Early enough that they shape the shortlist rather than inherit it — twelve months or more for a peak-season Saturday. The consular paperwork has its own window: an atto notorio lasts 180 days and an Australian nulla osta six months, so documents start around six months out. Everything else has to be settled before that.
What does a wedding planner cost?
Almost none publish a figure. One on this site does: Marry Me in Tuscany lists three packages with starting prices in US dollars, tied to guest numbers and venue type. Read it carefully — the site does not say whether the figure is the planner's fee or a whole wedding budget. When you ask others, ask that same question first.
What is the difference between full planning and on-the-day coordination?
Full planning runs the whole process, from venue search to the final schedule. Coordination takes over shortly before the wedding and runs the day itself. Some planners also offer a middle option: Ilaria Manaresi lists one-to-one consulting, which suits couples planning it themselves who want professional advice at specific points.
How many weddings will they be handling that season?
Ask directly — it decides how much attention you get. Only one planner on this site publishes a limit: Floé Weddings states a maximum of fifteen weddings a year per planner. Also ask how many fall in your month, who is physically on site on the day, and whether that is the person you have been emailing.
Will the planner handle the legal paperwork?
Some list it — Marry Me in Tuscany offers guidance with the documents required to marry abroad, and Floé Weddings lists ceremonies and paperwork among its services. But nobody can do all of it for you: the nulla osta must be sworn by you in person, and some countries require it sworn in Italy. Confirm exactly which steps they cover.
